At the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Newburyport, we believe that everyone has something valuable to give. You don’t need a background in social services or special training to make a difference—just an open heart and a willingness to look out for your neighbors.

When you volunteer with our local conference, you aren't just giving your time; you are becoming a lifeline for families, seniors, and individuals right here in our community who are navigating difficult circumstances.

🤝  Care & Advocacy: Meeting with Neighbors

 The Role: Become a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference and work in pairs with experienced Vincentians to respond to calls on our helpline. You will chat with neighbors—either over the phone or through a comfortable, private consultation—to listen to their stories, assess their emergency financial needs (like rent or utilities) and help coordinate direct relief.
Our Conference holds meetings twice a month for the spiritual growth of our members and to review the calls for assistance received. 

 Best For: Good listeners, empathetic hearts and people who can engage in a meaningful way with those struggling in one way or another.

 🍽️    Food & Hospitality: Weekly Community Dinners
 The Role: Become a vital part of our Breaking Bread Community Dinners held every Tuesday evening at the I.C. Parish Center. Volunteers help set up the dining room, prep ingredients, cook a warm nutritious meal, serve our guests or help clean up afterward.

 Best For: Individuals, friends or families who love hands-on community service, cooking and sharing fellowship around the table.

Have a specific skill you’d like to share? Whether you have experience organizing community events, web site management, administrative skills, we would love to welcome your unique gifts to our ministry.
